Video TranscriptHello my name is Ceri Wallace from Kiddie Cooks based in Warrington and on behalf of KidsAndCooking.co.uk I am going to show you how to make Ginger Nut Biscuits with your children.
First of all you put the flour, the ginger, the bicarbonate of soda and the sugar in a bowl. And then you ask the children to make fine bread crumbs when you add the butter in to the flour mixture.
Then you add the syrup, one tablespoon of syrup it will be become a nice sticky mess and you ask the children to stir it round. When all the flour is incorporated in to the syrup, you divide the mixture in to 12 pieces. Roll it in a ball, the children love doing this, and then put them on baking tray. Flatten them down slightly then put them in the oven to bake for around 10-15 minutes.
That's it girls, rub the butter through your fingers, squeeze out all of the lumps, now lets add the syrup and use your spoon, not your fingers, stir it really hard.
Now I am going to push it all together with my fingers, it has to stick together. When it gets hot the syrup will make it stick together. Now we are going to cut it into 12 and make it in to little balls. Then we will spread them out on the baking tray so they don't all stick together! Now we are going put your ginger nut biscuits in the oven for about 10 minutes and they will be much bigger when they come out.
There we go! You try them now girls!
